Notes ______ This is not only a modern retelling of the 1872 story Carmilla by Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu, but a retelling in my style of writing. Therefore, certain characters may not exhibit the same personality traits or knowledge as those in the original work, although I tried to stick to the original as best I could where necessary. Characters and settings I added to this story who were not there originally(in chronological order): The story is set in 2024 Laura's stepfather Rose, Laura's stepsister The room of artifacts (library) The part where Laura and Rose play dress-up, and its relevance to the story The dinner scene Characters and settings removed: Madam and Mademoiselle - Laura's "companions" Carmilla arriving in a carriage, it's not stated because Laura couldn't see outside the door, but Carmilla arrived in a limo ___________________________________________ I wrote Carmilla to speak as if she were a living poem. Her manner of speech was contagious, and Laura ended up speaking the same way she did. To remember Carmilla by, Laura never let go of the habit. I had to strain my brain a teeny bit to be able to write the dialogue and descriptions of events in Laura's POV like that- arrghh but it's all worth it ___________________________________________ Credits _________ The original story of Carmilla by Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le FanuAll Rights Reserved
