This is not only a modern retelling of the 1872 story Carmilla by Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu, but a retelling in my style of writing. Therefore, certain characters may not exhibit the same personality traits or knowledge as those in the original work, although I tried to stick to the original as best I could where necessary.

I wrote Carmilla to speak as if she were a living poem. Her manner of speech was contagious, and Laura ended up speaking the same way she did. To remember Carmilla by, Laura never let go of the habit.
I had to strain my brain a teeny bit to be able to write the dialogue and descriptions of events in Laura's POV like that- arrghh but it's all worth it
