He looked at me, his blue eyes glassy. They now felt like an ocean, a sad lonely ocean beckoning me to dive in. In all the time we spent together, all the missions, all the killing, all the experiments, he had never once looked at me with anything other than love. That's why I loved him, because he loved me and we needed each other.
"I don't exactly remember how to do this properly. But, I know I want to marry you."
I smiled at him, but it didn't reach my eyes. There was no chance we could ever get married properly, HYDRA didn't exactly throw wedding parties for their weapons. A thought occurred to me, which seemed to be a better option.
I reached into my hair, wrapping my fingers around a small chunk at the base of my neck. Then, I tugged as hard as I could. His eyebrows furrowed, but he didn't question my odd antics. I motioned for him to turn around, which he did. I sectioned a small area of hair at the base of his neck, hidden by the rest of his long brown hair. Then, I braided my blonde hair into his own. After I had finished, I knotted the end to secure it in place. He turned around to look at me, touching the braid while maintaining eye contact.
"Now we are one," I started while staring into his eyes, "it may not be perfect, but neither are we. As long as we know we're one, that's all that matters. I vowe to you I will trust you. With my life, my future, my entire being."
Tears fell from his eyes silently, his lips turned down and his eyebrows scrunched. He silently brought me into his arms, to which I returned the favour.
Yes, I will indeed trust him.
