August Eden and Mona Starling, classmates since kindergarten, cross paths with Lacey Clarke, the new girl at school, when they are assigned the same group for a project in 10th grade World History. At first, Lacey seems like just another overachiever, effortlessly matching Mona's top grades and charming their classmates with ease.
