Everett Carter is the golden boy of Mayfield High: handsome, athletic, and effortlessly charming. Everyone loves him, from the teachers to the janitor, but Everett has one small issue-he has no idea what he wants to do with his life after high school. For him, life is a breeze, and he's content to ride the wave of high school popularity for as long as possible.
His girlfriend, Wren Bennett, couldn't be more different. Wren is the total package: beautiful, smart, and ambitious, but her life is overshadowed by the towering expectations of her wealthy and demanding parents. Her older sister, the perfect Ivy League graduate, is the constant gold standard, making Wren feel like she has to do everything perfectly to prove herself. She's currently neck-deep in college applications, trying to stand out among the sea of other overachievers.
Wren has a problem, though: her life is too perfect. She's never struggled. Her family is wealthy, she's never faced adversity, and all her extracurriculars feel carefully curated rather than meaningful. She's stuck, unsure what to write about for the "Tell us about a meaningful challenge you've faced" essay prompt for her dream college.
Enter Everett, her ridiculously supportive boyfriend who would move mountains just to make her smile. He comes up with a wild plan: "Let's fake a pregnancy!" Wren is horrified at first, but Everett convinces her with his charming optimism. "Think about it," he says, "You'll have the most unique story ever. Struggles, growth, responsibility-it's all there!"
