Cerise Hutchinson and Elena Gilbert have hated each other's guts since their first day of kindergarten. Every interaction they'd had over the years was the least bit pleasant, usually filled with insults falling from sharp tongues.

But then, Mystic Falls goes from being the most boring place in the world to a town filled with vampires, witches, and god-knows-what-else, leading to Cerise and Elena being forced to be around each other more than either of them could have ever wanted. It seemed that the one thing to remain normal in their lives was the banter between them.

Until even that changes. Eventually, Cerise found herself softening to the determined and selfless Elena, and Elena found herself searching for Cerise in everything she did, smiling at jokes that she never found funny.
