Synopsis:

"Rumors are circulating about her lineage," Severus Snape, the Potions Master, began cautiously. He hunched over his desk, hands steepled, gaze affixed firmly on the wood as if-it alone, could shield him from what he feared he might find in his Godson's silvery-blue eyes.

"What rumors?" Draco Malfoy asked, his tone threaded with impatience. Frustration radiated from the young man as he stood beside the desk, desperate for answers. 

Snape understood-Draco needed clarity-but the truth he might reveal carried consequences even he was not certain he could bear. However, he-himself, did not have all the answers.

Sweat beaded on Snape's brow as he weighed his next words, the potential fallout pressing heavily upon him. Nervously, he bit his lip, drawing blood.

"I spoke to a select few within our community, they speak of her heritage as being deeply entwined with the Ancient Arts...however, they didn't name specifics-but certain bloodlines are very powerful," he admitted finally, lifting his gaze to meet Draco's.

"Those individuals, neither confirmed nor denied my suspicions of Lyra's heritage; only further reiterating that she has the potential to rewrite the very fabric of history." Severus paused for a moment, gauging the young man's reaction. Evidently the young man's eyes had widened, his lips parting in shock. 

Snape lowered his head into his hands, anticipating the reaction yet still feeling the weight of it. In that moment, all he could do was hope that Lyra Potter possessed enough forgiveness-and enough restraint-to spare the wizarding world from devastation that could have the potential to be on a scale he dared not fully imagine.All Rights Reserved
