Acheron's Mirror is a place shrouded in secrets-a mist-laden village perched on jagged cliffs where the sea's whispers are said to lure the unwary to their doom. Sylvan Thorne knows these tales better than anyone. A siren born of the sea god Achelous, Sylvan has spent centuries hiding among mortals, suppressing his true nature and the relentless pull of the ocean that courses through his veins. But the fragile peace he has built for himself begins to unravel when a stranger steps into his world.

Eliot Hawke is no ordinary man. With piercing eyes that see too much and a presence that defies the fog's concealment, Eliot is drawn to Acheron's Mirror-and to Sylvan-with a purpose he refuses to reveal. His curiosity about the cove's dark legends is matched only by his fascination with Sylvan, who is as enigmatic as the sea itself.

As their paths collide, Sylvan must confront the truths he has long buried, and the danger Eliot's arrival brings. The ocean's call grows louder, the lake's whispers more insistent, and Sylvan is torn between the life he's built on land and the depths he can never truly escape.

But Eliot isn't just looking for answers-he's searching for something deeper, something that could change both their fates forever. And as the lines between hunter and hunted blur, Sylvan must decide whether to risk everything for the one man who might see him for what he truly is.

Faya Hathaway is no stranger to unfathomable trauma. Hell, she was born into it. A world where she had no control over her own life or destiny. Just a lone figure, surrounded by a diabolical society, without any friends or a real family. Most feared and loathed her due to her father. Others shunned and degraded her due to her ways. This suits her just fine, as Faya would rather hide in the weeds than attract any further attention. However, after her stepmother disappears, Faya finds herself further entangled in the world she hates. She knows the rules perfectly well and has now been saddled with the woman's debt, which the Hounds of Hell have been sent to collect. But what happens when one unsuspecting Polaris crashes through her impermeable façade? Invading her heart, the very place Faya sealed and bound tightly long ago? Is it nothing more than smoke and mirrors? Is it merely a ploy like so many others? Or could it be... ⎯ 21 - This is a dark romance set in the underworld of Sinclair, a city known to locals as Sin City. [Set in Eilos, the world of 'Echoes of the Reach', and can be read standalone.] Where ripples of the past lead, the tidal waves of history soon follow. Jaster Brand is an artificing prodigy. From enchanted tools to automaton companions to his own right arm, his passion for arcane engineering has carried him to the Malkest Throne's biggest cities in search of work. Working with his fellow travelling apprentice, the rookie hunter Astrid Forrester, they scrape up enough money to support themselves and their families. On Jaster's latest visit home, however, something changes. The road to Flatsands transforms into a sunken cove, a seabound scape of sand and shells cut off from the wider world. Worse still, the village itself is abandoned, its residents vanished and their homes claimed by an insidious dark coral. Mysteries rise at every turn, yet none more startling than the sudden reappearance of Calypso, Jaster's one-time imaginary friend pulled back by forces unknown. Stranded together in a drowning village, the three must race to find the missing villagers, undo the curse that has befallen Flatsands, and face the ancient threat that stirs beneath the blackened waves. *** Written for #ONC2025. 96. "The road you've travelled almost every day of your life begins to change - transforming into a dark, terrifying place right before your eyes." 105. "Your childhood imaginary friend, who disappeared years ago, suddenly returns - only this time, they're real." "In the end, will you sink or swim?" - Legend has it, that in the murky waters of this cove, sirens lurk -- far out into the horizon and dark depths, awaiting their next victim to allure with their sickly-sweet lullaby. Residents claim that they can still hear the clinking of pickaxes down in the collapsed ruin of the mines, or chills rolling down their spines as spirits brush past them. The full truth is, that Kitsfort isn't quite your normal town... Frank's mother had claimed that the fresh air would help his lungs, and that maybe living by the ocean -- in a secluded, northern town where the sun only shone a whopping two months out of the year -- that, well, maybe he'd grow to like his new life here. Frank wasn't as optimistic about it all, though. Kitsfort was as gloomy as you could get, and all the damned talk of ghosts was about to drive him insane. He wanted out, and he wanted out fast. It doesn't help his case when his freaky, next-door neighbor keeps knocking asking for him -- each encounter leaving an icky, never-ending mush in Frank's gut, his suspicions falling thinner and thinner the more that the truth seems to be revealed, and as more seems to go wrong. And, well, when he finds his heart getting snagged on unwanted feelings towards this mysterious boy -- and as the alleged tree protecting this whole town from evil entities burns, he knows that this is all going to go to shit, and it's going to go to shit fast... A dark tale of a town with its secrets, murky mysteries and unsafe waters, the twisted beauty of death, and trying to escape the inevitable... [Inspired by Ghosts -- Raina Telgemeier]

When Mermen Run From Their Demons

14 parts Ongoing Mature

Parts 1/4 are done. Part 2 is being revised/written. (ManxMan) Zac Triton is nobody's hero, especially after the events that led to his mother's death. When he's around, the sound of his voice alone can make you do things. Anything. Whatever he wants. You cannot trust him, or even yourself when he's around. But people tend to forget that, and it doesn't help that he's also the Prince of The Merfolk. The semester after he turns nineteen, he gets sent off to an elite university for supernatural creatures. While there, he gets acquainted with the infamous Trevor Brooks, universally and solidly hated by everyone and their moms. Why? Because he's the first demon in history to be allowed to leave their prison of Hell. A series of sinister events lead Zac and Trevor to believe they're being haunted by some very pissed off demons, and if they don't figure out how to stop them, the consequences will be horrifying. The main question is, just how messed up can Zac get before they break him? And is Trevor really falling in love, or just falling under his siren song? WARNING Content not suitable for those who are triggered by: Gore, death, drug abuse, swearing (lots of it), suggestive scenes, sexual interactions between two men, implications of mental illness, and abuse.
