The main character is a girl with the classic "black cat" personality: solitary, independent, and very averse to touch. With a painful past and a mother with an indelible story, she becomes increasingly closed off, avoiding others to prevent hurting them.
However, her mother is determined to push her toward a destiny that isn't truly hers.
Her life changes thanks to a boy.
The classic "golden retriever" type: cheerful, kind to everyone, always willing to help.
He's the kind of person for whom physical contact isn't occasional-he'd practically die without a hug.
They've been friends since childhood but never on good terms.
He's in love with her, but she's scared of everything and keeps pushing him away.
