He hesitated for a few moments before slowly placing his hand on his hair. Tanjiro seemed to melt at this movement. Then Giyuu tenderly stroked his head, running his fingers through the boy's red curls.
"Hurt... Giyuu... hot... too hot... Mama..."
The thing in Giyuu that roared with worry fell silent for a moment, as did his brain. Then something snapped, like a rope that's been stretched too far and snaps.
OR: Giyuu decides that Tanjiro and Nezuko are his children and goes feral when one of them is injured.
