The storm clouds loomed heavy in the sky, casting an ominous shadow over the mansion. Inside, the atmosphere was thick with tension, every corner steeped in whispers of things left unsaid. Taro stood at the window, his gaze lost in the distance, yet his thoughts never straying far from the woman who had once been his closest ally. Tregear.
She had always been his equal, a partner in their unspoken understanding. But now, she was slipping away. It was as if the very fabric of their bond, once unbreakable, was slowly unraveling. The weight of the past hung between them like a shroud, and Taiga, their son, was caught in the middle.
Taro had promised himself that he would protect Taiga, even if it meant facing the woman he loved in a way he never had before. But as the door to his study creaked open, he knew that whatever was to come, there would be no turning back.
She entered, her eyes like storm clouds themselves-dark, filled with the pain of betrayal and the hurt of years spent in a life that was never what it seemed. Tregear, the beauty of darkness, the last of her kind, was no longer the woman he had once sworn to protect. She was a stranger now, her sharp features twisted in fury, but there was something else in her eyes-something unspoken, a fear buried so deep that even she didn't fully understand it.
"Why, Taro?" Her voice was low, yet the question hung heavy in the air, thick with years of unresolved tension. "Why now, after all these years?"
Taro didn't move, his face hard as granite. The words he had rehearsed, the promises made, the intentions behind his every action-they all seemed insignificant in the face of her pain.
"Because I can't lose him," he said, his voice steady but barely containing the edge of desperation. "I can't lose Taiga. I won't."
Need to continue this prologue in another draft cause it's long.
