"Don't you hate me like they do?" she whispered, her voice trembling as tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill over.
From a distance, he stood, silent at first, before his lips curved into a faint smile. "How could I ever hate you," he said softly, "when you're the best thing that's ever happened to me?"
The dam broke, and her tears streamed freely down her cheeks. Her voice cracked as she pleaded, "Please, don't leave me like the others did."
"Promise," he murmured, the word heavy with sincerity.
But promises, as fragile as they are, can shatter.

"You broke your promise too, Kabir," she spat, her eyes burning with the fire of betrayal. "I hate you in every universe."
He met her fury with an expression as empty as a void, his voice devoid of warmth. "Likewise, Mrs. Simons-to-be."
Is this what love truly looks like? A battlefield of broken promises and lingering pain? Will they ever reclaim the dreams they once dared to share?
