For years, Elijah Miller has struggled to keep afloat. When a man in a better position than him offers him help in exchange for a few odd favors, who is he to say no to? As long as his daughter, Noa, doesn't find out. A few favors turn into many, and after a violent altercation, Elijah feels like he'll never be the same again. Blood and guilt have dried beneath his fingernails, and no amount of scrubbing will get it out.

Noa Miller was loads of things, but one thing she wasn't was an idiot. She watched as the market that was once close to falling apart began flourishing. She watched as the house she'd grown up in began to change until it was nearly unrecognizable. She watched as the kind look in her father's eyes slowly disappeared until she could only see fatigue.

For all of her life, Elijah Miller tried so hard to ensure that his daughter wanted for nothing, and eventually, it cost him his morality.

Noa never wanted more than she already had, but why would she not pull her weight when her friends discover the thrilling prospect of a treasure hunt? Due to the company she kept, the secrets her father and Ward Cameron had worked so hard to bury for the past year would soon be uncovered.
