A Scarlett Johansson mother figure/ adoption book :)

For 7 year old Iris, life feels like a series of storms she can't escape, until she meets Rose and her mother Scarlett.

With her best friend Rose by her side and the hope of reconnecting with her estranged brother Charlie, Iris believes things might finally be looking up. But as she discovers the cracks in Charlie's life and struggles to hold on to her own sense of normalcy, Iris learns that family, friendship, and healing are far more complicated than she imagined.

Scarlett is everything Iris wishes she could be: kind, caring and so full of light, just like her mother once was. As Iris grows closer to Rose's family, Scarlett becomes a beacon of hope in her lonely world.

(Not really written to a 7 year old's language abilities but just allow it lol)

[COMPLETED] Hazel, a 10-year-old girl, lives a troubled life marked by her father's harshness and her mother's neglect. Each morning, Hazel endures verbal and physical abuse from her father, who is quick to punish her for even minor infractions. Her mother, though sympathetic, often sides with her husband, leaving Hazel feeling isolated and unloved. Despite her challenging home life, Hazel finds solace in her friendship with Rose, a classmate who lives in a loving and supportive household. Rose's family, including her famous actress mother Scarlett and comedian father Colin, offer a stark contrast to Hazel's situation. Rose, who is empathetic and caring, notices Hazel's bruises and emotional distress. When Rose invites Hazel to a movie night at her house, Hazel eagerly accepts, hoping for a brief escape from her turbulent home life. However, Hazel's attempt to go to Rose's for the weekend is thwarted when her father angrily refuses her request, furthering her sense of despair. After a particularly brutal confrontation with her father, Hazel makes a desperate plan to visit Rose despite her parents' objections. She fabricates a story about going to the library and sneaks out of her house, driven by the need to find some comfort and safety. When Hazel arrives at Rose's home, she is warmly greeted, but she struggles to hide the fear and sadness that linger beneath her brave facade. Rose and her family, recognizing the depth of Hazel's pain, resolve to support her and provide a safe space where she can begin to heal. The story highlights Hazel's bravery in the face of adversity and the profound impact of compassionate friendship and family support.
