In this alternate universe (AU), America isn't the ideal country for teenagers trying to live up to their youth. In fact, many are running to experience freedom, live to the fullest, explore new opportunities, but most importantly - cross the border.

Zayn Malik was only 19 years old when he had no choice but to run, when in an altercation with a few kids from school. He allows his anger to take control of his actions and before he realizes, he kills one of them in cold blood. Zayn runs from the consequences and hides from authorities, running into various obstacles along his journey.

Most teenagers and young adults never got the chance to see America when they had proper freedom. Things were different in this country, presidents were allowed to run until the day that they croaked, they weren't forced to retire with the maximum of two terms. With that being said, president Havoc had been president consecutively since 2002, having seen 29 years of presidency.

Eliana Valente was an average 18 year old girl, going to school where she learnt about a very bias version of politics, they were taught that president Havoc was a good man and deserved his years of ruling their country. Most of the adults believed it and scolded younger souls for being delusional.

When the invisible string that was tying Eliana and Zayn together finally brought them to each other, Eliana ran away with him and was introduced to a long journey on their way to the border. The two faced many challenges along the way, but also met many people - some whom they left behind, but some who hitched a ride with the two and traveled across the country as a young family.
