Esta historia se centra en Yommichi Nijereda, un jóven de 18 años que recién salido de la secundaria y en pleno año universitario se encuentran con unos poderosos seres malignos que solo buscan muerte, conocidos como "espectros", estos seres se alimentan de la sangre humana y también de su carne si es que andan hambrientos. Yommichi tiene una peculiaridad, y es que tiene sangre espectral, pero sigue siendo humano, lo cual provoca un debate entre los cazadores al decidir si confiar en él. Esta temporada se centra en como Yommichi se vuelve más fuerte para combatir a estos espectros,tratará de descubrir que es lo que lo llevó a contener esta sangre que le otorga poderes especiales, mientras se acerca a la meta de volverse un Comandante,el rango más alto de la organización de cazadores de espectros.
