The Day the Whispers Began follows Vaughn Carter, a second-year information technology student, as he deals with the horrifying breakout of Neuro-Z Syndrome, a virus that affects the infected's behavior and causes haunting auditory hallucinations. As the virus spreads and transforms individuals into aggressive, mind-controlled creatures who talk in unsettling whispers, Vaughn and his closest friend Kate must deal with the increasing turmoil on campus. They team up with Glez, the RA for their building, to take cover in the basement when things get out of hand, but they quickly discover the virus is changing. They must learn the truth about the virus, the enigmatic whispers, and the terrifying power behind it all as they struggle to survive-before they join it.
