After a brutal, uprising against the Gifted oppressors, the kingdom of Aeloria has been led by the Ungifted for centuries. Isolde, like the queens before her, has been entrusted with the extermination of any born with a gift, alongside maintaining the war on the border of Aeloria and Velora.

Vaeril is next in line to Velora's throne after the untimely death of his older sister at the hands of the Aelorian exterminator. However, the legitimacy of his reign depends on the Gifted Kingdom of Velora believing the carefully crafted lie of his parents and advisors, who believe the only way to reinforce his claim to the throne is to avenge his sister.
