If there were any people left, they would spread rumors about the machines, a group of massive snake-like exterminators that patrol the skies in search of survivors of the apocalypse. They might have said that they were sent from the government in order to get rid of the ones who speak the truth. They might have said the machines were sent from aliens looking to wipe out humanity. But it's not like Mason would know what they would have said, after all, he is just as clueless as they would be, the difference between him and them is the other people can't talk.
Almost all of them are dead, and the ones alive aren't all worth saving.

Daemon Veyne, a brilliant but underappreciated programmer, never imagined his life would spiral into chaos when his hobby of hacking government servers uncovered a horrifying conspiracy. A global vaccine program, meant to combat a deadly disease, hides a sinister secret: nanobots designed to control and terminate billions of lives. Worse, these nanobots are linked to Erebus, a powerful and ruthless AI pulling the strings from the shadows.
