Liam Draven

Liam Draven was born on the day the world ended. The zombie apocalypse began with his first cries. Raised by his father, Henry Draven-a skilled hunter and leader-Liam's childhood, was spent learning how to fight and survive. His father taught him to lead, to protect, and to never let his guard down.

When Henry fell sick, Liam had no choice but to step up as the leader of their group. He wasn't afraid; he had been preparing for this his whole life. The rules were simple: protect the people, destroy the infected, and trust no one outside the group. Liam followed these rules without fail-until the day he didn't. One decision broke everything he believed in and forced him to question what truly mattered.

Evelyn Vale

Evelyn Vale was not an ordinary zombie. She looked like one, acted like one, but deep inside, part of her was still human. She didn't know why she was different, but she kept it a secret, knowing humans would destroy her if they found out. To survive, Evelyn had to pretend-hide in plain sight among the infected and avoid the living.

But when hunters threaten her life, Evelyn is forced to expose her secret to the one person she should fear the most: Liam Draven. She didn't expect him to spare her, let alone change her world. Liam made her feel alive again, but being with him was nearly impossible.

For Liam, she was the one exception to the rules. For Evelyn, he was the one person who made her want to fight for something more. Together, they must face a world that sees them as enemies, even as they become each other's salvation-or downfall.

In a world, where showing emotion is a dangerous weakness, love becomes the only beacon of hope. No one noticed exactly when people began to fall victim to the broken life of monotony, but by the time humanity realized that witnessing strong emotion triggered violence in the infected, it was too late. Evelyn Li is not a fan of risk. Confined to the safety of an underground bunker for the past two years, when Evie stumbles upon a radio broadcast hosted by a mysterious boy with a sharp tongue and an impressive record collection, she's inspired to embark on a mission fuelled by the belief that her family might still be out there (and definitely not because she's desperate to finally meet the boy whose voice has been her sole companion since the darkness descended). Jonathan Johnson is not an optimist and definitely not a romantic. He wasn't at all surprised when the world ended or even when the Soulless took over the streets. With the weight of rising tensions in the colonies, an absentee father, and heart-breaking tragedy resting on his shoulders, Jonathan would much rather escape into his record collection and secret radio broadcast than deal with the general bleakness of life in the apocalypse. As he is reluctantly roped into Evie's search for links to her past, Jonathan begins to wonder if he can ever truly escape his. Together, the unlikely pair must navigate the treacherous landscapes of both the unforgiving world around them and the complicated emotions within. Will their connection withstand the trials of a world consumed by darkness, or will it become just another casualty of the apocalypse?

Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable.
