It's been six months since the Aliens touched down-six months since the world went dark. Six months since Rebecca Mason was murdered leaving Tom Mason to raise their four kids- Hayleigh Mason an 18-year-old stubborn and sarcastic tomboy girl who could keep up with the boys, Hal Mason also an 18-year-old hard-headed sarcastic jock (Hayleigh and Hal are twins Hal is the oldest by 3 minutes; they are also fiercely protective over another). Benjamin Mason is a sweet mild-mannered 15-year-old nerd(nickname from Hayleigh and Hal) and Matthew a sweet 5-year-old who just wanted to help.
Before the attack, the Mason family was loving but had turmoil. Tom was a professor of history he was always busy with work and missed a lot of Hayleigh's and Hal's games and milestones promising he'd make it up to them; leaving Rebecca to pick up the pieces.
Then the aliens attacked; Rebecca was murdered on the second day of the takeover. On the fifth day, the mechs and skitters moved in on Mason's neighborhood causing them to leave their home; during this, the Aliens got ahold of both Hayleigh and Ben and the other three had to run.
How will this affect the Mason family read and find out!
