When Shadows Bloom

This is a work in progress! As I continue to write chapters, I will update here. This story has NOT been edited yet, but I am trying to push myself to do things that are scary and sharing this with the world in this state is terrifying!!

In a world where light and magic intertwine, Ellowyn is born into a legacy of darkness. Her family carries the weight of a curse- a shadow that has followed them for generations, casting them in despair. No matter where they go, the darkness lingers, changing them, shaping their minds and hearts, and marking them as outcasts in a society that values light and magic.

Ellowyn, on the verge of adulthood, begins to feel the full weight of this inherited curse. As she struggles with her own identity and the suffocating presence of the darkness that lives within her, she learns that it is not only an external force but something she must learn to coexist with, or risk succumbing to it entirely. In a land where the magic of the earth is forbidden to those tainted by shadow, she is denied the power she yearns to access, further isolating her from the world around her.

With the darkness manifesting in increasingly dangerous ways, Ellowyn is forced to face the truth about her family's past - and her own place in it. In a journey that spans both inner and outer landscapes, she must discover how to wield the darkness without being consumed by it, finding strength in the very thing that was meant to destroy her. But as she navigates a path fraught with both personal and societal rejection, Ellowyn learns that even shadows can bloom - offering unexpected power and a chance for rebirth.
