Dakota, or "Kota", is pretty much what you would expect out of a troubled teenager in the system who has just gotten out of juvie. She is spending her days of community service at the Dutton Ranch under Rip Wheeler's watch. And as she spends more time at the ranch, she begins to realize that there is more life than she thought, and that it is actually a very beautiful thing.
