Queen Torah stood on the edge of the Grand Azure Balcony, overlooking the restless waves of the Seventh Sea of Mahallaten Beau. The wind, salty and commanding, wove through her long, ocean-dark tresses as she closed her eyes and lifted her face to the sun. Her song, hauntingly beautiful, wove through the air like a siren's call, luring the attention of the mighty sea. Below, her people gathered near the marble steps of the palace, listening in reverence.
Amongst the sea, invisible to the human eye was the Death Rider of the Sea, Akaan, a god both feared and worshipped. He had been watching through a portal from beneath the sea. The melody danced into his ears, wrapping itself around his very essence. He stood at the edge of the water, his silver eyes locked on the queen, his heart ensnared by the purity of her voice. It was not love, no-it was something darker, something forbidden.
Watching from the highest peak of the sky temple, the goddess Helreinna seethed in jealousy. Her divine senses had felt the shift in Akaan's focus, and she would not tolerate such defiance. With a storm's fury, she descended upon the temple's halls where Akaan stood, still enthralled by Torah's song.
"Have you forgotten your place, Akaan?" Her voice echoed like thunder, shaking the very walls.
Akaan turned, his expression laced with irritation. "Do not be foolish, Helreinna. I am only admiring her song."
But the goddess was already lost to her rage. In a single, blinding motion, her blade struck true, slashing a crimson line across his brow. Blood poured down his face, painting his vision in red.
"You will no longer disobey my heart's command!"

Excerpt:
I looked up and stared. My reflection looked back at me in the mirror of the dark room. My eyes were literally glowing, there was no mistaking it. It was not a reflection of light, or any of the other excuses I had used or others had assumed. They were glowing a light sapphire blue color. It was not a bright glow, but it was definitely a glow.
Glowing eyes were not normal.
Okay, at this point I had to admit it, I was no longer normal.
What was I then? For that, I had no answer
