Trapped in a suffocating world of her own mind, a young woman named Blue finds herself lost in a sea of wildflowers, a constant reminder of the life she's never known. Meanwhile, a mysterious doppelganger emerges, embodying the freedom and rebellion she's always desired. Clad in leather, this mirror image lives the life she's always dreamed of, but it never was a dream to be with a man incapable of love. As the trapped woman's memories of past relationships resurface, she's forced to confront the scars that have held her back. But as she becomes increasingly obsessed with her doppelganger's life, she realizes that reminiscing about the past can be a destructive force, threatening to consume her entirely. Told in three separate timelines of denial, anger, and acceptance of the ending of one relationship and the beginning of the complex nature of coming to terms with the ending of a one-sided love story. The short story is an epistolary which refers to their not being the utilization of dialogue and is told through the presence of imagery and sensory details that convey the story's message through the eyes of the main protagonist. Inspired by Billie Eilish's haunting song 'Wildflowers', this short story is a poignant exploration of the devastating consequences of nostalgia and the struggle to break free from the shackles of past heartaches. All Rights Reserved
