In the gritty underbelly of Gotham, forensic photographer Ezra Hayes has spent years capturing the city's darkest moments. His camera reveals the truth behind every crime, but it also makes him a target, caught between the shadows he documents and the dangers of the criminal world. Time and again, Ezra finds himself saved by a mysterious, brooding figure-Batman-whose presence is both a comfort and a curse.

What starts as a series of chance encounters soon turns into an undeniable bond between the two men. Ezra, a trans man with a quiet strength, begins to find solace in the moments where the Dark Knight lingers by his side. Yet, Batman remains a man of few words, struggling with his own demons, and Ezra is left wondering if their connection can ever become more than fleeting.

As the danger in Gotham intensifies and their worlds collide, both men are forced to confront their hidden truths. Can Batman-a man who lives in the shadows-ever truly allow someone else into his world? And will Ezra find the courage to embrace love in a city that has never been kind to either of them?

"Through the Dark" is a tale of redemption, love, and the courage it takes to stand in the light when the world around you thrives in darkness.

ORION GRAVES has always been on top. A straight-A, high honors student. Top of his class on the path to valedictorian and an Ivy League school. Until suddenly, that all changes. Orion was outed as transgender at his old school, and became victim to relentless harassment. Not to mention that in June of his junior year, his mother lost her battle with cancer. Now, he must move in with his father-whom he hasn't seen since his parent's divorce when he was 8. Moving all the way from Red, California to Lakeview, Maine, he has to start from the very beginning. But, as he starts his senior year in a brand-new school he's quick to learn that it's not going to be easy to get back on top, nor keep his head down and stay under the radar like old times. Because there's Caleb. CALEB MITCHELL, the star child of Lakeview. Honored for being so well-rounded he probably shouldn't get too close to a hill. Not only that, but he's nice. And funny. And surprisingly good-looking. And Orion's new best friend. But Caleb's lost someone too, and is struggling just as much; this perfect kid suddenly not so perfect anymore. He's got his own demons, and pressures, and a heavy depression holding him back. And yet, through these shared struggles, their friendship somehow manages to blossom into something so much more sacred. ---------- Cover and story by me, @devenwrites Official Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2XONF7xeRhcFwDBWpbxmsB?si=7s4Whhq-RlewQIiya3UwQw

A recently out divorcee must explore his identity and how to not be the straight-acting man he's been his whole life. Just when he has found his footing, a flamboyant trans man jumbles up his ideas about what it means to be gay, to be masculine, to be a man. *** Edwin realises he's gay at the ripe age of 56. Coming-out should set him free to finally explore his sexuality, but honestly? He feels lost. He's getting a divorce after thirty years of marriage, half of his friends turn out to be homophobes, he feels an interloper in LGBT places, and for the first time ever, he's living alone. His only remaining certainty - the one he's risked everything for - is that he's attracted to men. To affirm his sexuality, Edwin focuses on everything masculine and seeks out gay men like him. But just when he finds his footing, a flamboyant gay man jumbles up all his ideas about what it means to be gay, to be masculine, to be a man. If Edwin wants to find his community, he'll need to re-examine what it takes to belong. *** Cover by the amazing @SmokeAndOranges! Cover image found by @galaxiesuniverses
