Juno is dead. He doesn't know how, why, or even when it happened. All he knows that he has died.
And yet, he's still here here as a ghost.
And being a ghost, fucking sucks.
He can't do anything he once enjoyed. He can't eat, he can't drink, he no longer has comfy bed, no home, and no one who can even see him. For some reason, he also can't seem to leave the boundaries of New York, the city he spent his life--and will probably spend his afterlife-- trapped in.
It's infuriating.
Worst of all, is that he can't seem to remember any of the important things in his life. Anecdotes and experiences, sure, but people who were important to him, and places he once treasured all vanished the moment his spirit left his body.
Now, he's only left with half-formed memories, and a hell of a lot of questions.
Meanwhile, in the land of the living, Joel is bored. He's never really had many friends to hang out with, his family's a non starter for various inconsolable reasons, he's blown through all the books he cares to read, and he's fresh off a breakup with his now ex boyfriend. So far, his summer's shaping up to be as miserable and crushing as the last one. However, he does have one thing going for him.
He can see dead people.
When a chance encounter drives Juno and Joel into each other, they can't help but see a mutual opportunity. Joel can help Juno get closure on his life, and maybe, just maybe, help him move on to whatever's next; while Juno can give Joel the break he needs from the monotony of his existence, and, if he's lucky, maybe become something more.
A cute, boy-meets-boy mystery about a man who died, and had to retrace his steps to remember his reason for living, and a man so isolated by the living, that he found comfort in the land of the dead.
