Lighter hadn't felt real peace in years. He thought back on his life, back to when he was picked up on the side of an empty road by a young platinum blonde woman and a little girl with greenish-grey hair. When they found a little girl with blonde hair sitting in their truck, happy as a clam. When he was stolen from his home at 13. When he fought for his life in a twisted underground ring. When he watched as men twice his size fought and killed each other, and attempted to do the same to him. When he became the Champion, and held the title for 3 years. He felt a scowl rise in his face. Champion of who? Even after escaping the ring at 16 and making the massive trek back to his home, to safety... he didn't want revenge. Because it would mean he'd have to go back. Even as the peaceful years followed, when the Son's of Calydon came to be, he still couldn't ever shake the desire of closure for that horrible period of his life, or the fear of ever stepping foot in it again. But when a bounty for the very same man behind that horrific ring came to Lucy's attention, Lighter finds himself about to come face-to-face with his past again.

Book #2 in The Fire series SELENE BLAZE "You've got the wrong girl." I say as I continue to take a step backward. He stepped forward not letting me get away. "I know her you've seen her, so you're gonna tell her something for me." Jaxon says taking an extra step forward and I immediately step backward again. I can't let him get close to me. It's been years, but for some reason, he still scared the hell out of me. "What if I say no? What if I don't tell her?" I ask as I let out a shaky breath. "Oh, you're going to tell her." Jaxon says taking another step forward as I take one back, but my back meets a wall. "You tell her, that if I ever see her again, I'll kill her." "What did she ever do to you?" I growl, suddenly thankful for the wig on my head, covering my real hair. "She lived." Jaxon hisses and I knew what he was talking about. He wishes my sister had survived instead of me. Well, he can just join the club, he's not the only one. I swallow as he leans closer. "Do you think she'll understand?" I slowly nod. "She'll understand." I say. "Good." He smiles leaning back. "Also tell her to stay away from the strip. She doesn't deserve to race." "She'll never agree to that." I blurt out. It was the truth, I would never agree to that. "I guess you better find a way to convince her." Jaxon says. "Or your heads on the line." "Is there a problem here?" Wesley asks coming towards us. "No." Jaxon smiles before patting my shoulder roughly. "Besides, I was just leaving." He walks away leaving me alone with Wesley. "Are you okay?" He asks and I look at him. I scoff and walk away. I may be afraid of Jaxon, but Wesley doesn't scare me. And after everything that's happened, I hated Wesley.
