Some wish to scavenge what's left inside them, those who wish to study them, and those who wish to do whatever it takes to ensure their standing and not let anyone get in the way of their plans. Zhu Yuan: In pursuit! (Zenless Zone Zero Fanfiction.) SANDBOX ver.
[Reader Discretion] This is a layered narrative: a K-Drama slow burn × Fullmetal Alchemist × John le Carré blend. Expect slow-build romance, science-mystic body horror, and espionage intrigue. If you prefer light or straightforward plots, this may not be your style. This story is an AU fanfic, please enjoy it for what it is. In the contemporary civilization; City of New Eridu, Officer Zhu Yuan of the New Eridu Public Security (N.E.P.S.) leads her team through a high-stakes investigation, tackling a series of strange incidents connected to a long-forgotten cold case. Unexpectedly, she teams up with Elias, a mysterious and resourceful investigator, as they unravel dangerous secrets buried deep in the city's shadows, while navigating the chaos of a world plagued by Hollows. IMPORTANT: Just to clear the air-this is not a Zhu Yuan x Wise/Phaethon ship. Don't get me wrong, I adore their dynamic too, but harem vibes? Yeah, that just kills the mood for me. Instead, I created an OC for Zhu: Elias, an agent who matches her energy, aspirations, and ideals. Think of this story as one of the movies in Random Play-same antagonist, but with an extra twist or two. If that's not your cup of tea, I totally respect your preference! Just... maybe keep the cannons pointed elsewhere, okay? Thanks! Let's just say this is from another parallel/alternate universe. :) ---------------------- WRITER NOTES: This story doesn't contain NSFW. ---------------------- Disclaimer: This fanfiction is based on Zenless Zone Zero by HoYoverse. New Eridu managed to survive and thrive after the apocalypse by acquiring the technology to be able to extract resources out of the Hollows. Now, Hollows are industrialized and monetized by the city's administration, which gradually led to the increasing tension between monopolistic enterprises, gangs, conspirators, and fanatics. (Yes, I copy-paste it from the wiki.) The Criminal Investigation Special Response Team is a division of PubSec operating out of the Janus Quarter (namely, in its Lumina Square branch). They are tasked with the investigation of criminal activity, performing raids and in-Hollow operations. A new member recently joined the infamous CISRT, abruptly so sudden. His past was a mystery. Officer Y/N L/N, code name RED, has been working marvelously for past few months. Yet, secrets were well present surrounding him. And what's up with this strange looking beetle that's been flying around him?

Invisible Hollow Incident | A Zenless Zone Zero Fan Story
The Invisible Hollow Incident, an event that would become almost more infamous than the appearance of the first Hollow, named as such as when it appeared, it didn't trip any alarms, only making its presence known when the monster attacks started. It was this that caused it to quickly rise as the Hollow that would claim the most lives with very few making it out, including those who were sent in as part of the rescue operation, some whispers even stating that Ethereals there were more powerful than in other Hollows, others saying it was to do with the new powerful monster that had seemingly appeared with the Hollow. Cyrus is one of the few lucky survivors and is given a chance at a new life after being taken in by the Random Play owners Belle and Wise. Of course, trying to adjust to a new life is hard, having to make new connections in the final year of school, adjusting not only a new place of living but practically a new way of living, it's a tall ask for anybody. Unfortunately, as much as Cyrus wants to put the trauma of the past behind him, it's not ready to let him go just yet, nothing is ever that easy. It has a plan after all, one it's determined to see through to the end.
