New Enarees

In this future, there are no starships, no robots or AI, no gene editing. Faced with a pandemic of an incurable virus, having survived a world war and the subsequent fuel crisis, humanity has lost many of its former technologies, regressing to the level of the late 20th century, and has been forced to divide into three genders.

Now, in addition to men and women, there are enas and intersex individuals, who have partially replaced women. But is everything as smooth in this new society? Have people learned to live in peace and harmony? Have they taken the lessons of the past to heart? And most importantly, what is keeping the new pandemic of the virus at bay, a virus that threatens to wipe out an already dwindling population within a generation or two?

Three observers must answer these questions: the father of a sick girl, a psychologist working for Family Protection Services, and a volunteer who has faced a harsh reality.

This is a story of a brutal world where love still flickers, existing not for its own sake, but in defiance of the circumstances.
