It was a bright gray day when Mr. Dives fell out of his house. He had been adding a safer rail to his balcony. Some say he landed on his head, others say he landed on his face, and still others say his cranium, but the result was the same either way. Some say the result was fruit-shaped, others say it looked Martian-ish, and still others say like Saturday's leftovers, but regardless, the damage was done; the driveway was forever doomed to boast an extensive red-brown stain like a mark of shame that no one had considered it important enough to hire a pressure-washing company or even lend a hose to lighten the rudy hue.

You Were Never Meant to be a Hero (Quackbur Superhero AU)

24 parts Complete Mature

Wilbur was tired of being a hero. He liked to believe that he was a good hero, but being a good hero wasn't enough. It was never enough. Always compared to his twin brother, the golden child of the Minecraft Hero Family. Wilbur lived in Techno's shadow. He hated it so much and he wasn't sure how much more he could take. He wanted to be seen for who he was. He was Wilbur goddamn Minecraft, and he refused to let himself be a side note in someone else's story. Villains had one right; the right to choose a nemesis. A thesis to their anti-thesis. A rival. His subordinates always questioned why he chose Magpie. He never bothered to explain. He had met the hero once, and that was all it took. The eldest of the Minecraft children was so much more than anyone realized. There was a deep running fury hidden under his mask. The hero was fast approaching his breaking point. That, is why Quackity chose him. Wilbur Minecraft was going to fall soon, and he was going to fall hard. And Quackity would be right there waiting, ready to catch his songbird when he did.
