the invitation

Gyo Chaeyoung was an ordinary young woman trapped in the worst rhythm of her daily life. By day she worked at a small café in Seoul: by night she struggled with unpaid bills and the constant worry of her sick father. Life seemed to have led her into a dead end... until she met HIM.

It was a rainy evening and the subway station was nearly empty. She was about to step onto the train when a deep calm voice stopped her.

"Excuse me, would you like to play a game?"

Chaeyoung turned around and saw a well dressed man with sharp features and an intense gaze. In his hands he held two folded paper squares: Ddakji. A children's game.

But something about his presence made her hesitate.

"Why should I?" she asked cautiously.

The man smiled. "If you win... you get 100,000 won. If I win... I get your time."

Chaeyoung let out a small laugh. It sounded harmless. Maybe it was just a silly distraction for her. So she nodded.

But as she threw her paper tile against his, her life began to change forever.
