His yearning gaze would speak the forbidden words his lips would never dare to utter. Every time he looked at her, his heart urged her to understand if only she looked into his eyes the way he gazed into hers. His heart craved to pour its confined feelings; he needed her to know - but in a world where secrets are forced to be kept to ensure the safety of the one person his heart truly belonged to, who was he to ask for her heart?

He certainly never deserved it, nor will her ever.

"How could you possibly expect me to stand there and watch you enviously as you dance with him?" Valen stepped forward, his piercing gaze so intense that it caused Lyra to feel faint, and stepping back subconsciously.

"Stay where you are, please." She urged softly, but she knew that her heart contradicted the words tumbling out of her mouth in such a hurry.

"How could you torture me like so by letting me admire the way you look so impossibly magnificent and entrancingly enchanting tonight, and not grace me with your company?" He pressed, stepping forward once more, and this time, Lyra did not step back.

She desperately attempted not to gaze into his grey eyes - his oh so beautiful eyes that behaved as a trap to capture her to do his bidding, and she adored them so. It was her kryptonite.

Valen smirked endearingly, his index finger tipping her chin upwards so she'd succumb to his contagious gaze, and he spoke tauntingly, "Come now, Lady Lyra. It's only inappropriate if you succumb to the rules you've been commanded to follow."

My eyes were literally glowing, there was no mistaking it. It was not a reflection of light, or any of the other excuses I had used or others had assumed. They were glowing a light sapphire blue color. It was not a bright glow, but it was definitely a glow. Glowing eyes were not normal. Okay, at this point I had to admit it, I was no longer normal. What was I then? For that, I had no answer [[Word count: 495,000]] Copyright August 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story.
