Selah's work often went unappreciated by the masses, tainted by many negative connotations surrounding social work, but rumor never drove her away from the primary goal of wanting to help as many children and families as she could. So, cases like Xavier's were nothing new to her.

What was new, however, was her undeniable attraction to her stubborn, prideful, and occasionally arrogant client. As the professional boundaries blurred with their developing relationship, Selah found herself caught in the middle of a bloody battle between her heart and her mind-between her integrity and her longing for true love. Selah must suppress her growing feelings for Xavier, not only to protect her job, but also to continue the work that she loves.

Xavier Cole was on a mission to get his daughter back, the only family he had left in this world. She was removed from his home at seven years old due to his and his late girlfriend's addiction to Heroin, a worsening epidemic in Brooklyn. After losing two women he loved, Xavier was forced to confront his demons. He was determined to better himself and provide his daughter with the life that she deserved, but he couldn't do it alone.

It was unfortunate that the only person who could help him to the highest capacity was the woman he craved more than any high he'd ever chased, complicating more than just his efforts to get his baby back to him.
