I spent two days reading this book called "The Power" by Naomi Alderman and I'm pissed. Maybe it's because I'm still young and don't understand the message of the story but why is it that women and men proclaim to be equals but at the sight of power, we destroy everything around us. Can't I just get one mc that actually has powers and tries to better her world secretly if she has too. A government that's morally grey and characters that are relatable. Maybe it's just me but I don't think I'm up to that type of standard in writing just yet, but her book has inspired me and plagued me so much that it hurts.

This story is partially inspired by my real life and the many thoughts that have engulfed every aspect of my relationships. Sci-fi is a major part of why I write, so the beginning of the story dives right into the explicit love of Jane Dolvani, her hardships and struggles as she battles the mundane life that is her existence. The act of forgiving oneself and healing from actions caused by others even if unintentionally. As the story progresses Jane and her two partners from different timelines find themselves in a conspiracy caused by their government in the epidemic known as the fertility crisis. Her children as well as many others become a secret symbol that may cause more harm to society than good.
