In the dawn of time, when the sun first rose over the forest, the Ancients roamed the land. Three tribes of noble cats, born of the earth and forged in the fire of the wild. Their stories have been passed down through generations, whispers of a glorious past. We know that one tribe followed the call of the rushing water, their paws tracing the paths of the ancient rivers. And we know that another tribe splintered, their descendants giving rise to the great Clans of Thunder, Wind, River, and Shadow. (According to Erin Hunter)

The five clans lived by a lake. Until one day, they didn't. The clans have been destroyed. Rogues have claimed the land surrounding the lake as their own. When the clans refused to give up their hard-earned territory, the rogues fought. They fought, mercilessly and viciously, until the clans could take no more. Few survived the first blow. Fewer survived the second. The third came, unexpected to both rogues and Clan cats alike, and set the forest to fire.
