Running from a war-torn world, Aulka and her pack find refuge in a Dream where there is no suffering, no pain, and no death. It's a well-needed reprieve...until Aulka discovers that the dreamer, Maikai, is dying and the Dream along with him.

When Aulka sets out, she runs into the mysterious, Dream-dubbed "hero", Kaone, who tells her in order to heal Maikai, she must wake him, and to wake him means plunging her pack back into a war-torn world.

Caught between the choice of saving one wolf of pain and harming many or harming one to save the many, Aulka has to face the biggest question yet: how can she, a wolf pledged to take away save as many lives as possible, choose who is to live or die?

She has to make a decision soon with Maikai fading fast, the Dream actively trying to stop them, and Kaone's mysterious past.
