What if Cinderella didn't go to the ball because she wanted to, but because she was hired to? What if she was hired to bring a kingdom to its knees? What if fairytales didn't end happily, and the princess and the prince didn't live happily ever after?
Nesta Rennell knows all too well that "happily ever after" is a myth. But when she's offered the deal of a lifetime to infiltrate a royal ball and seduce not one but two princes in a bid to turn them against each other and prove that they're unfit to rule, she has to convince her targets that fairytales are real and that dreams do come true.
But there are far greater forces at play than Nesta knows. War is looming on the horizon, and someone is pulling the strings. Besides, like every good thief and con artist knows, nothing ever goes according to plan, and nothing is ever as it seems.

Those at the top of this world are the ruling Fae, next are ruling humans, next Fae, free humans, protected slaves and then the banished ones. At least as a slave she has a chance at earning her freedom from a ruling Fae to pardon her. She is also something more which is discovered as she grows up but she must keep it hidden to protect herself. As she masters her skills, she, along with her friends, are given the opportunity to leave and earn her freedom. It's the first step in finding herself and her answers and perhaps it could change her life in ways she couldn't imagine when she was taking everyone's orders in the kitchen. But first she must rescue a prince from a dungeon... (Small warning) Contains suggestions of non consensual sexual relationships of a business kind but no graphic detail. She thirsted for power as did her father and mother. The prince not wanted to marry the princess. Convinced his parents to let him choose the girl he would marry. Finally giving into there son they arranged a cooranation ball where he would choose a rich girl with the eddicuuite of a true queen, but nothing could prepare the kingdom for what happens next.Complete
