He chuckled and looked up towards the sky.
"I know, but isn't beautiful?"

"Is little Maddie giving up already? Shame. I thought this was going to be more of a challenge."
He laughed cockily and leaned in way too close for my comfort. I pushed him away and glared at him.

I looked away once more as tears brimmed my eyes, remembering all the painful things that he's ever done or said to me. As I stood up, I quickly blinked them away."
