When college student Celine Marlowe finds a piece of a shattered unicorn horn in the forest, she doesn't expect it to contain ancient magic connecting her to its owner Soren, the exiled prince of the Velkeros. With Soren's magic trapped inside her and the remaining pieces of his horn still scattered around the world, Celine is pulled into a centuries-old conflict between a corrupt scientific empire called the Argent Accord, and the once mythical beings they exploit.

The Accord wants Velkeros blood for immortality, Soren wants to reclaim what they stole from him, and Celine just wants to make it out alive. Magic was never supposed to end up in Celine's hands, but the more she learns, the more she realizes that her and Soren's connection might be the key to saving everything.

Strange doorways have begun opening through out the Midlands and bizarre creatures are emerging forever changing the kingdom. Can Celine close the doorways and stop the creatures from entering? Can she neutralize the wizards before any more damage is done? Travel through out the kingdom with Celine and her allies as they try to stop the war while a new enemy arises, threatening to enslave all of humanity that dwells within the Midlands. Sneak peak: Suddenly a very small, strange creature that looked like a miniature woman with wings darted in front of Celine's face, then flew over to Brandon and followed along beside him for a moment before speeding back into the Royal Pine Forest as he reined in his horse. "What in the Midlands was that?" Brandon asked in shock. "I don't know," Celine answered concerned. "Something very strange is going on. I feel like I need to go into the woods! There's something I need to do in the woods!" she said as she rode over to the side of the road and dismounted, running into the Royal Pine Forest as Brandon called after her to wait. He quickly dismounted and swiftly lead his horse over to Celine's, taking its reins and tying both horses to a tree before going after her. "Celine! Wait!" he called after her as he realized that he could hear a very low humming noise coming from within the woods. "Maybe she's following the noise," he thought as he began to follow it to find where it was coming from and hopefully locate Celine. He pushed through the underbrush as the sound became louder and then he saw Celine standing in front of a whirling, shimmering vortex which was floating about four feet above the forest floor. There was a myriad of different types of strange looking creatures coming out of it and Brandon stood there in disbelief at what he was seeing.

A dark fantasy of forgotten magic and an inescapable fate... Eline has always felt different, but only when a suffocating dream confronts her with a woman whispering her name does the truth begin to unravel. The forests of Fjörndal murmur her name, the earth responds to her steps, and her mother's vanished past looms over her like an unseen shadow. When she discovers that her silver necklace is not just a keepsake but a key to a secret buried deep within her blood, Eline is thrust into a battle between light and darkness. The forest breathes, the mist conceals something ancient and unfathomable, and in the distance, someone waits-someone who has known her all her life. But some truths were never meant to be uncovered...
