Born with a dying heart, Corina was never meant to live past the age of twelve. Her father the kingdom's greatest doctor broke the law, stealing a heart to replace her failing one.

But the heart he took wasn't an ordinary one. It once belonged to a demon who walked the earth centuries ago, pulsing with magic and power.

For this crime, her father was executed and Corina was sent to the mountains, hidden away from those who wanted her dead.

Years later, longing for freedom, she convinces her caretaker to take her with to the kingdom. But with instructions to keep her head down and avoid people, she struggles to contain her curiosity, a single distraction leading to there capture.

In fear, she accidentally summons the heart's original owner binding him to her against his will. Furious and trapped, the demon has no choice but to teach her how to wield his power as a human.

Their alliance is anything but easy. He resents her. She fears him. Yet, as the king hunts for her, and the lessons push her past her limits, she finds herself drawn to the demon she should hate.

But he is still a demon. And his hunger for her is far more dangerous than her feelings for him.
