What If (AU) ~ Dimentio Wins?

(Yes I am aware the cover to this sucks lol I will change it later. And I will change the description later because I don't have the whole plot for this written out yet, so you get the basics for now! 🎉) THIS IS NOT AN X READER

Dimentio reveals his plans to Mario and Luigi
(Just like he does in the game.)
But here's the twist!

Mario discovers that Luigi has been Mr. L this entire time
In what looks like Dimentio finally getting everything he'd wanted with his mischievous plans, Mario realizes that Dimentio is a lot smarter than they'd originally thought so he offers to make a deal with Dimentio.
Basically the deal is Mario gets to keep all his memories so he can help to ensure Luigis (Mr. L's) safety until he figures out a way to defeat Dimentio AND get his brother back and Dimentio knows that Mario won't betray him within this deal because Mario cares about his brother so much and would do anything to help keep him safe.

This book will be angst, have some comedy in it, possibly some romance.

Is this AU confusing? Maybe. But it's fun to write!
