Avatar: The Time of Wei

This is written FOR FUN. This is tied in no way to the Avatar franchise. I have had this idea for a while and decided to write it for myself and others to enjoy.

Fifteen years after opening a portal to the Spirit World in Republic City, Avatar Korra dies. The search for the Earth Avatar begins.

After completing the tests, both Wei, a young boy, and Dai Lu, a girl, are found to be both the Avatar. Wei can't Earthbend, so Dai Lu, who appears to be advanced in earthbending as a young child, is declared the Avatar.

Twenty years later, Wei, now a timid twenty-two year old man, works as a mechanic at his father's shop in Ba Sing Se. After an attack, he learns he can earthbend. After hearing on TV that Dai Lu is unable to bend the other elements, members of the White Lotus come to take him for training. He meets and befriends Akki, a nonbender, Hayate, a firebender, and his pet wolf-squirrel Mei. Great adventures follow them as they seek to stop the spirits from laying claim to the living world and avoid Dai Lu's attacks.

Will Wei be able to save the world, or will his timid nature overpower him when it counts?
