The Surprise (short story)

Denise is a paraplegic bound to a wheelchair all day. She relies on the help of her nurse-aide
Mark for health-related purposes but also companionship. He is loyal, professional, and friendly.
Despite Denise being bitter, difficult, and down-right stubborn, no one would stay longer than
one month with her. She had gone through fifteen nurse aides prior to Mark. She took a chance
on him being the only male nurse-aide, she has hired. For the past five years, Mark has never
left her side. He proved his worth and value.

During their mundane tasks, Denise adamantly needs to go the bank for the last errand of the
day. Mark was tired nearing the end of his shift for the day, he knew if he didn't oblige, she
would relentlessly bother him for the next three days. That's how she was-moody, stubborn,
and persistent. In order to avoid that nonsense, he learned it was better to let her have her way.
It drove him crazy at times but he was a professional.

Few minutes into the bank, a robbery occurs. A lot was happening, the unknown and wild cards.
A community effort was made to halt the robbers as they were outnumbered by the patrons.

Would this be a successful robbery or would the community effort take over and halt the
robbers?
