The first time I saw Leon Caldwell, he stood on the rooftop of St. James Academy, staring at the horizon like he could bend time and force the sun to set at his command.

He wasn't just beautiful-he was the kind of beautiful that made you forget your name. Dark curls that barely obeyed gravity, a sharp jawline kissed by the fading sunlight, and eyes like a storm that could drown you if you weren't careful.

I wasn't careful.

"Enjoying the view?" My voice came out steadier than I expected as I stepped closer, my boots echoing against the concrete.

Leon turned slightly, his expression unreadable. "Not really."

I tilted my head. "The sunset isn't impressive enough for you?"

He let out a dry chuckle, the sound low and almost bitter. "Sunsets are just endings pretending to be beautiful."
