[ Dark Romantasy / Mature ] The Vampyres of Gale are amid a flesh-eating pandemic, and Faerie tears are the only known cure.

Livinia, a Faerie healer, joined the Human side of a Vampyre war in southern Nival to avoid scandal and the captivity of an arranged marriage. Upon "Liv's" return to her icy homeland, she gets put into real chains. She may have leverage, but it's not something that will set her free, at least not quickly.

The Nightcaster Court is treacherous. They are rich, haughty, and powerful, but they haven't been hostile toward Faerie-kind since the "Vale of Tears" earned its name. It was before Liv's time, but it isn't any wonder why her people fled Crystal Hollows, a neighboring land that is theirs by right, at the first sign of crisis.

Liv can try bargaining for the freedom she never had, but, as a rule, the Nightcasters are fickle, cruel, and can't be trusted. To complicate things further, there's Corbin, the ailing heir - gifted, powerful, grateful for a second chance. He's everything his family is not, but a Vampyre is still a Vampyre, and love isn't love if there are chains attached to it.

100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)

Vowing to protect her father however she can, Giovanna hides him away and sees her first patient--the handsome, but alarmingly feverish Matteo Barozzi. Although she successfully treats this son of a high-ranking official, in a careless moment Giovanna fails to properly conceal her identity. The only reason she isn't tossed into a dank jail cell is thanks to the young man's honor and feelings of indebtedness. The association between the charming aristocrat and the clever commoner should end there, but when Giovanna's dearest friend goes missing right after her betrothal to the Doge's son and amid strange reports of nighttime attacks, violent commotions, and inexplicable behaviors in the community, the only person Giovanna can turn to for help is Matteo. "You thought you could threaten her? That you could hurt her, violate her the way that you did and walk away alive?" His voice was filled with raw fury, each word like a blow. "Please," the Sower gasped, his eyes darting to the ghastly charred remains of his men. "I- We didn't mean-" Thane didn't let him finish. With a surge of heat, the flames flared from his body, engulfing the man in a swirling inferno. The Sower screamed, his cries echoing through the clearing as the fire consumed him, but it didn't end his life-not yet. Thane controlled the flames, letting them torture rather than kill, a terrifying display of his power and restraint. "Didn't mean to?" Thane echoed mockingly, leaning down so his face was inches from the Sower. His eyes burned with rage, dark and unrelenting. "You meant every word, every threat, every action. And now you'll burn for it." ******************** In a world torn by war, where men and women are divided into separate kingdoms, Fern, a healer and herbalist, sets out to end the decade-long conflict. Her quest leads her toward the men's kingdom, but an unexpected encounter with an injured man changes everything. Little does she know that the man is the undefeated Ghost of the Battlefield. He was notorious and feared for slaughtering female warriors. Despite the hatred in his eyes, Fern makes the decision to heal him, forging a bond that neither expected. As their worlds collide, they must face the scars of their past. Can a single act of kindness heal old wounds, or will the weight of their history destroy them both?
