'Your body would make a fine vessel for my offspring.' He smiled.

'E-excuse me?' A cold shiver crawled down Alice's spine.

'This is my final offer,' he said nonchalantly. 'I will treat your brother dearest, and you shall agree to become my wife. Otherwise, see yourself out.'

She stared at him for several long seconds, her mouth dry, words failing to form as the weight of his gaze pressed down on her. She struggled to register the gravity of his offer.

'I will assume that to be a no,' he concluded, then turned.

'Wait!' Shouted Alice. She sprang to her feet, her hand trembling as she grabbed the back of his sleeve. He turned back around, a flicker of surprise crossing his features.

'Okay,' she said quietly. 'Just... please, save him.'

He stood motionless for a moment, his gaze locking onto her teary gray eyes.

'Very well,' he replied, the corners of his mouth curled into an eerie smile. 'Inform Dmitri of the address. We depart at dawn.'
