Lucien Grey was ordinary. There was nothing special about him because he was just like everyone else. This is what he was told over and over again by his emotionally stunted mother as he was growing up, repeatedly reminded of the fact that he wouldn't ever have to work for success the same way she had because he wasn't a girl. Fleeing from his mother behind was the best choice Lucien had ever made, even if it also meant leaving his sister behind as well.
