White Woods

The novella begins with a team of five men beginning a journey through Northern British Columbia where they are attempting to survive for 72 hours and plan to leave at a designated checkpoint for a challenge on their reality TV show, Wild Air. However, a blizzard and a violent encounter with a wild animal prevent the men from achieving their goal. They are then introduced to the protagonist of the novella, Rachael, who has been surviving in the forest for more than a year. She rescues them and provides them with shelter at an old hunting cabin. However, Rachael has not been around people for a long time, and she suffers from a complicated past that has left her distrusting of human beings. Her and the Wild Air crew have to work together to survive and as the novella progresses, an allegorical relationship between Rachael and the forest becomes apparent. If they want to survive, the men need to resolve their relationship with mother nature, and they need to gain Rachael's trust.
