"I love you," the note read in her palm. Akari chuckled weakly, pressing it to her forehead. "Is this all you can think of in a serious situation, stupid?"

Akari, a spirited girl from the quiet town of Itomori, and Haru, a reserved boy from the bustling city, find themselves mysteriously swapping souls. Their connection begins with chaos and confusion-Haru awkwardly navigating Akari's lively world, while Akari tries to bring warmth to Haru's distant and guarded life.  

"You should smile more often," Akari once wrote in her notebook.  
"And you should stop skipping meals," Haru scribbled back.  

Their playful exchanges slowly evolve into something deeper as they uncover pieces of each other's hearts. Haru begins to remember fragments of a dark past-a time when Akari, even as a child, had risked everything to save him.  

But fate is not kind. Akari's health begins to fail, and with her last breath, she smiles softly, whispering, "We did it." Left behind, Haru carries their love and her legacy, determined to honor the girl who taught him how to live. But for him, it was not the ending he wanted and so he changed it.
