In the beginning, the Overworld was ruled by two brothers-Notch and Brine. While Notch basked in the glory of his rule, Brine was more concerned with the world's safety. His fears proved true when he discovered a lurking darkness. Null, a shadow-like entity that threatened to consume all realms. However, Notch dismissed Brine's warnings, which made Brine decided to act alone, vowing to be a better ruler than Notch, calling himself Herobrine.

Meanwhile, in another part of the world, there was the Aether royal bloodline, gifted with four children, Athena, Angel, Allison and Amber. As the heirs grew older, Athena became obsessed with power, secretly seeking strength from Null. When Angel discovered the truth, she refused to follow Athena and instead left to claim the Nether for herself, severing ties with her sister. This led to a war between the Aether and the Nether.

Somewhere in the Overworld, Alex, growing concerned over Steve's disappearance, began investigating. She heard rumors of a man resembling Steve but with glowing eyes. Unwilling to stop searching, Alex wandered the lands until she finally came across the mystery of Disc 11 and Disc 13.
